With over 2,584 acres of parkland, there is an outdoor space for everyone to enjoy this spring. Bike, walk, or run to one of these local trails to get your nature fix!

Mill Lake Park

Mill Lake is a perfect family destination offering everything from quiet picnic areas to an impressive spray park and playground for children. A popular spot for walkers, bikers, joggers and those looking to do a little fishing. The trail winds around a lake hidden in the middle of the Abbotsford’s urban core; home to a variety of waterfowl including ducks, mergansers, and geese and even a few bald eagles! Lots of lakeside benches and the floating boardwalk make this trail a peaceful place to exercise and rejuvenate.

Fishtrap Creek Park

Developed around Abbotsford’s storm-water system, enjoy the 3.5-kilometre forested hike that winds past wetlands and marshes. The paved trails, benches, gazebos, and picnic tables allow people of all ages to enjoy the local flora and fauna and make pit stops along the way. Although it is located in the heart of the city, most of this urban park is well-treed and offers the tranquil sounds of birds singing and frogs croaking.

Willband Creek Park

Located off Highway 11, the trails at Willband Creek Park are built around stormwater detention ponds and encourage a diverse waterfowl population and various species of migratory birds. 139 different bird species have been spotted here! These wetland trails border on farmland and provide excellent opportunities for viewing wildlife and enjoying the quiet, natural environment. An easy interpretive walk weaves around the ponds, as well as a longer loop that brings hikers back to the parking lot.

Matsqui Regional Park

Enjoy a leisurely six-kilometer walk along the Fraser River on the well-groomed trails at Matsqui Trail Regional Park. This flat and low-level hike gives visitors views of riverbanks overlooking Mission, tranquil farmland, and the surrounding Cascade mountains. This is a great trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders to experience nature. No matter what the season, there’s something to see – from wildflowers to swans to sturgeon. This park also offers ample parking area, washrooms, picnic tables and horse trailer parking.

Clearbrook Park

This park is a great choice for anyone looking to get some extra physical activity in. In addition to paved trails and pathways, you can find large open playing fields and baseball diamonds open to everyone. Clearbrook Park’s location away from busy highways also makes it a great place to spend a quiet afternoon amongst nature. In and around the park you will find a variety of trails and pathways, including a section of the Discovery Trail, which runs throughout Abbotsford.
