The Fraser Valley is becoming recognized as a growing wine region in British Columbia and Abbotsford has a few hidden gems of its own. Local wineries are producing award winning wines competing against locally and internationally produced grapes. Abbotsford is also one of the few producers of Mead (honey wine), which is considered to be one of the oldest alcoholic beverages in the world.
