With the craft beer industry showing no signs of slowing, Abbotsford has reemerged as a valuable hop producing region and for good reason.
Abbotsford’s mild climate and fertile soil help to produce a variety of high-quality hops which are harvested in the fall and then turned into delicious local craft beer.
Brewing with “fresh” or “wet” hops, which are picked and used the very same day, produces a unique and flavorful beer that is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted.
BC Hop Fest 2018
This is precisely why BC Hop Co. chose to celebrate this special harvest and encourage local brewers to produce a fresh hopped beer by creating BC Hop Fest. This annual event takes place this Saturday, September 29th right in the hop fields! Sip local brews created specifically for this event amongst the vines and enjoy the unique flavor of a fresh hopped beer.
Over 30 BC breweries will be on hand with their latest fresh hopped creations as well as a selection of local Abbotsford wineries for those nonbeer drinkers in the crowd. But this event isn’t just about imbibing; there will be food trucks on site, live music, information about the hop harvest and tours of the hop fields.
This uniquely Abbotsford event is one of a kind and not to be missed this fall. Click here for event details including a full lineup of breweries as well as ticket information.
Coming from out of town? Vine and Hops Tours are offering a shuttle bus from Vancouver! Travel to the festival and back worry free in their shuttle bus which will be doing pick-ups and drop-offs at Olympic Village and Commercial Drive Skytrain stations for $37.50+GST per person. Book ahead here.
