In preparation for the upcoming season, we wanted to find out what we can expect from the Fraser Valley’s newest professional sports franchise.
The Bandits open their inaugural season Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. against the Guelph Nighthawks. Modelled after top international professional leagues, the CEBL is comprised of teams in Abbotsford, Hamilton, Edmonton, Guelph, St. Catharines, and Saskatoon. The CEBL is the Official First Division Professional League Partner of Canada Basketball, and recently hosted its inaugural Entry Draft at the Art Gallery of Hamilton, which saw some of Canada’s top professional and student-athletes drafted into the CEBL.
Each team plays 10 home and 10 road games using FIBA (International Basketball Federation) rules, and player and referee standards set by Canada Basketball. Rosters will be comprised of at least 70 percent Canadian players, many playing professionally in North America and overseas during the traditional basketball season.
With 10 home games played at Abbotsford Centre, one of the Lower Mainland’s premier entertainment venues, game days will feature an electric atmosphere and will capitalize on the venue’s breadth of resources. Whether looking for bowl, VIP or courtside seating, fans have a variety of great seats to choose from all for a great price.
“The Bandits are bringing a new basketball experience to British Columbia. Think professional basketball meets rock concert. With an awesome home venue like Abbotsford Centre, I invite fans from across the Fraser Valley to come for the highlights and stay for the party. This is non-stop entertainment for friends, colleagues and families,” said Lee Genier, Bandits President and COO of CEBL Western Operations.
Expect to see exciting pre-game activities inside and outside the arena, performances from the Bandits dance teams, post-game entertainment and more! Catch all the action by grabbing your tickets at www.thebandits.ca/tickets or www.ticketmaster.ca
