VOLLEYBALL
Abbotsford is a great location to host a volleyball tournament. In May 2006, Abbotsford successfully hosted the Under 18 National Volleyball Championships with over 170 teams from all across Canada as well as 120 officials. For the first time ever, Tradex was transformed to house 18 volleyball courts to host this successful event. Plans are underway to hold next year's Under 18 Championships at the same time and same place in 2007. Tradex is an ideal location as it is next door to the Abbotsford International Airport and has easy access to the Trans Canada Highway #1. The Fraser Valley Volleyball Commission is instrumental in supporting the sport throughout the valley.

ATHLETE PROFILE Ben Ball
Ben Ball has quite a resume of a volleyball player. He’s been participating in volleyball since Grade Six. And his accomplishments are impressive. Ben was a setter for Team Canada’s Youth National Volleyball Team in summer 2006. He also was the starting setter for the MEI Eagles Provincial Volleyball Championship teams in 2005 and 2006, plus was team captain of the Eagles in 2006.
Ben was one of the few provincial athletes in any sport to be named MVP in back-to-back seasons: he won the honors in 2005 and 2006. He was also a first-team Fraser Valley All Star in 2005 and MVP of the Fraser Valley in 2006. Ben has been a setter for the BC Provincial team from 2005 to 2007. The Abbotsford resident’s future goals are to play for the Senior National Canadian Volleyball team and play professionally in Europe.
